Purple Pups

6th Grade Beginning Treble Choir         

      Purple Pups will be taught primarily as a general music class, with units that will include music theory, sight singing, and ear training.  There will be a focus on vocal technique such as matching pitch, timbre, and intonation.  The students will participate in at least two performances during the school year including the Winter Concert and the Spring Pop Concert.  6th graders have the opportunity to participate in the 6th Grade Honor Choir Festival. Purple Pups are not eligible to participate in UIL or TMEA sponsored activities or contests.

Canine Chorale

7th/8th Grade beginning Treble Choir    

Canine Chorale will be taught primarily as a general music class, with units that will include music theory, sight singing, and ear training.  There will be a focus on vocal technique such as matching pitch, timbre, and intonation.  The students will participate in at least two performances during the school year including the Winter Concert and the Spring Pop Concert. Canine Chorale members are eligible to participate in TMEA All-Region Choir, but will not participate in UIL.

Doggie Dames

Intermediate Treble Choir     

Consisting of 7th and 8th grade girls, this choir will have a focus in repertoire, vocal and choral technique, while continuing their curriculum from the Beginning Choir.  These students have the opportunity to participate in the All-City Choral Festival, Solo and Ensemble, UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Contest, and TMEA sponsored activities. The students will perform in at least three scheduled concerts including the Winter Concert, UIL and Spring Show.

Top Dawgs

Intermediate/Advanced Men's Choir    

Consisting of 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys, this choir will have a focus in repertoire, vocal and choral technique, while continuing their curriculum from the Beginning Choir.  Top Dawgs are required to participate in either the TMEA All-Region Choir Auditions or the UIL Solo and Ensemble Competition, as well as the UIL Choral Contest in April.  The students will perform in at least three scheduled concerts including the Winter Concert, UIL, and Spring Show. They sometimes combine with the Scottie Singers for a mixed choral sound. 6th graders have the opportunity to participate in the 6th Grade Honor Choir Festival.

Scottie Singers

Advanced Treble Choir    

Scottie Singers consists of a very select group of 7th and 8th grade girls selected through an audition process during the previous year.  These students will work on advanced repertoire and choral technique.  Scottie Singers will perform in at least three scheduled concerts including the Winter Concert, UIL, and Spring Show.  This group also participates in other gigs that surface throughout the year; i.e. Christmas caroling, the Chuy's Christmas Parade, the Austin Retired Teachers' Association, etc.   All Scottie Singers are required to participate in the TMEA All-Region Choir Auditions,  and Solo/Ensemble Contest.
